Apple’s new camera timer app, which is being developed by the iPhone camera app team, can record and playback video in a variety of ways, and the developer claims it can also record sound from a microphone attached to a camera.
The app works with a variety-of-material iPhone camera to take images with various video capture modes.
The timer’s video is then sent to Apple’s own camera app for further processing, though it’s unclear if that processing is done automatically.
Apple has been developing its own video capture apps since the iPhone 6 was introduced.
It’s likely that the timing and functionality of this camera timer will be similar, and there will likely be other camera apps that take photos from the iPhone’s camera in addition to the timer.
The video output is likely a bit lower resolution than what you can see in a standard video capture app, though there’s still plenty of room for the app to record video.
Apple’s camera app is currently available for iOS devices running iOS 7.0 or later, and can be downloaded from the App Store for $0.99.
